UPDATE 2015-11-09: Access to Chameleon@TACC is now restored for both KVM and CHI@TACC (Bare Metal). While we expect that the bare metal instances that were running prior to the shutdown should boot, the abrupt nature of the shutdown could result in a few exceptions. Please submit a help request in the portal if you experience any issues restarting your instances. 

Brief interruption of service on CHI@TACC

We experienced a brief interruption of service on CHI@TACC earlier today, first noticed at 13:57 CST (19:57 UTC).
This was due to a hardware problem which has been corrected around 14:30 (20:30 UTC).
The service should be operational again.

Update 2015-11-03 05:10 UTC: Access to the KVM cloud has been restored today. We also had issues on Bare Metal caused by the outage on Friday, however these should be solved now. Thanks for your patience.

Update 2015-10-30 17:00 UTC: We have restored instances to their state prior to the first outage. You can now resume access to CHI@UC. We believe the problem should not happen again, but we will closely monitor the system for any issue.

Update 2015-11-02 23:00 UTC: The maintenance is extended until midnight Central Time to perform additional testing on the infrastructure.

Network configuration changes on the Chameleon cluster at University of Chicago will be performed on Monday, November 2nd, 2015 starting at 8 AM Central Time. The OpenStack dashboard (https://chi.uc.chameleoncloud.org) and all nodes at UC will be unavailable during the duration of the outage.

OpenStack KVM unavailable during data migration

On Monday, 28 September 2015, we will migrate all images, snapshots, volumes, and volume snapshots from the current OpenStack KVM deployment to the new Chameleon hardware.

Note that all instances will be stopped and that OpenStack KVM will be unavailable during this maintenance.

Network issues on CHI at TACC

We are currently investingating network issues on the CHI cloud at TACC.

UC Chameleon down for electrical maintenance

The UC Chameleon system is down for electrical work that will last approxiately 3 to 4 hours.
