Initializing a VM at KVM@TACC with multiple storage volumes

This artifact initializes a VM at KVM@TACC with multiple storage volumes using the CHI and Cinder APIs. Virtual machines allow us to create any number and size of virtual disk devices, while regular bare-metal servers provide a fixed number of drives and take longer to initialize.

This notebook has to be executed only once to launch a VM on KVM@TACC. It will create a VM, reserve and assign it a floating IP, and set up a Jupyter server inside the VM in order to launch notebooks from the newly created VM. This artifact also guides the user through the process of tunneling to the VM using SSH so they can access the Jupyter server from their local machine.
